I have been blogging about marketing for quite a few years now and we also work with clients to help them produce content and blogs.
A couple of interesting questions that people often ask is
“How often should I post on my blog?” and “What should I post on my blog?”
Now, there are lots of trains of thought around this. I have heard experts talk about once a day, three times a week, once a week and others say, when you feel like it. I guess that is where blogs have changed over the years. They seem to have much more purpose than before.
Some people are blogging for SEO (search engine optimisation), others to make sure they are constantly updating their site and yet more because the are hooked on the kick from publishing new ideas and thoughts.
Seth Godin doesn’t seem to have a formula and I suspect most people have him down as the leading blogger on the planet, so maybe he has the right approach.
I am not an avid reader of his blog, though whenever I do chance across it, it is often the result of someone sharing a bit of his wisdom via a social network. I guess this is the best type of content as it arrives in the way you are most likely to consume it – as a result of a recommendation from a friend or colleague.
Maybe think about that next time you write something.Share
